(profiled in 2018) Ben Quan ’19 is a rising senior with a major in Cognitive Science and minors in Computer Science and Philosophy. For the past few summers, as well as during the school year, Ben worked with Steppingstone Scholars Inc. teaching Introduction to Java programing and robotics to inner-city high school students in Philadelphia. This summer, he worked with grad student Iiona Scully and Professor Hupbach at Lehigh with research involving implicit attitudes and memory, using techniques such as evaluative priming. He says “I am using what I learned in cognitive psychology and neuroscience to study more about memory reconsolidation and encoding.” Ben's advice for other students embarking on their senior research project is: "I suggest students start early and stay consistent with working on it. It is really easy to make mistakes along the way, so make sure you have enough time to fix them and possibly re-run studies."
